inspiring creative adventure
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin our Purple Patch Arts story!
First there were 3 people who wanted everyone to be equal. That’s us! We came up with the idea of getting lots of people with learning disabilities together to take part in creative arts workshops.
We started in Harrogate and only had a few folk joining us in the beginning, but then we began growing, and now we have workshops all over the place – in Harrogate where we started, Ilkley, Leeds, Craven and Manchester – and work with over 150 people every week!
The people who come to our workshops pay from their direct payments or individual budgets, which is great because it means that you pay for the activities that you want and we can make sure that the company keeps going every year! Yes that’s right, we are here to stay people!
We’re really pleased with our name. A ‘Purple Patch’ is a time in someone’s life when everything is going stupendously well (a bit like ‘Take That’ at the moment). We hope that everyone we work with will have a purple patch during their time with us.
Purple Directors
Here at Purple Patch we're growing every day. We like to work with people who think like us and who are passionate about 'inspiring creative adventure' like we are.
